Quotes
“They said it couldn’t be done. “Pack the Albert Hall?” queried one of Britain’s best-known (and longest-serving) show business agents, a few weeks before this concert took place. “London’s biggest concert venue? With an all-British bill of jazz artists? You must be joking! Tony Bennett, yes. Diana Ross, yes. Harry Connick Junior, maybe! But anyone else, forget it!”

Peter Clayton, the director of Robinwood Productions nonetheless thought differently. “All the players on this album are fine British jazzmen!” he argued determinedly. “Kenny Ball is a household name. And everybody else on the bill really should be! If we promote this concert right, it can work and it will – and I’m going to see that it does! There’s going to be dancing to jazz in the Royal Albert Hall for the first time in decades! And we’re going to make some money for the British Heart Foundation too; London’s Pearly Kings and Queens will be there to sell silk roses for the cause!”
