Dynamo is the word that comes to mind!

A man of huge enthusiasms, Peter Clayton has, over the past few years, been busily building a music catalogue with intensity, commitment and natural flair.

His Robinwood Productions label has recorded a remarkable spectrum of artists – from the gifted American singer Jane L. Powell, George Melly & Digby Fairweather’s Half-Dozen, The Cotton Club Band, Kenny Ball, (along with the Treorchy Male Voice Choir for good measure!). He has put on Shows at the Royal Albert Hall, Pizza on the Park SW1 and many jazz clubs and festivals around the UK.

His recent project with John Ryan an American songwriter was perhaps one of his most ambitious yet, working in creative unison with both writer and arranger - Pete Moore in a project in which many of the best British jazz musicians accompanied American singer Laurie Broadway and star-in-the-making David Migden, and two premier British singers Colin Anthony and Jacqui Hicks to make an extraordinary CD – Words Alone RWP 0023CD.

Such attention to creative detail is one of the aspects of Peter Clayton that mark him out as a great record-producer, coming in unexpectedly from left-field. But aside from this, as John Ryan observes, he has the ability – remarkable in a non-playing musician – to spot unheard potentials in a musical concept; hear new ways to re-define existing material and even to notice when a slight lift to the bass amid a mix will produce just that extra ten percent of necessary energy. Such a bewildering sixth musical sense might catch some artists unawares.

But as all his collaborators will attest, Peter Clayton combines his natural gifts with such personal integrity, enthusiasm, and concern for his fellow human-beings in and out of the studio that his creations shine with the warmth that belongs in the soul of the man himself. Listen to any of his RWP CD collection and you will know Peter Clayton is passionate about music. Enjoy.
